Survey questionnaire 4 English 140

1)      What was your favorite project?  Explain why.

Its a toss up between projects 1 and 2.  They both were more about me and lets face it, who doesnt like to talk about themselves?

2)      What was your least favorite project?  Explain why.

Since I need to pick one, I’m going to go with the 4th project.  I dont like doing research and that project had me doing the most.

3)      Do you have any suggestions regarding peer response?  Would you change anything about peer response?

Theres 2 things I would change.  First, I wouldnt have everyone make a post on the person’s post.  I would have the little circle and then have the 2 people being peer reviwed, take down other people’s inputs.  This would offer a easier way for people to get to know others in the class, because I know 5-6 people by name in the class(excluding Mr. Halle).  The second thing I would change would be what we do the peer responses on.  Everyone chose something they were currently working on and at  times it created issues.  Like two people in the same group or people not being as far as they should be or people being already 100% done with their piece and not open to suggestion.  So I would suggest letting the 2 people being peer reviewed to get the choice of what they wanted to be reviewed on.

4)      Do you feel like you were given too much time to work on projects?  Too little time? Explain your answer.

With the amount of work my other classes gave me, I believe the amount of time for projects was just right.

5)      What are your thoughts about breaking each project up into multiple drafts or phases?  Did it help to have drafts or would you just have preferred to turn in one draft – the final-for-now?

I think the system works just fine, dont fix something that isnt broken :)

6)      What are your thoughts about the pacing of the semester?  Were there any projects that felt too short?  Too long?

I think the pacing was good.

7)      Do you think you were given enough time to work on your final portfolio? Explain.

More then enough time to finish it.  Were only building on what we already had, so I think it’s reasonable to expect everyone to be done on time.

8)      Do you feel like I provided too many comments on drafts or not enough comments?   Were my comments helpful? Why or why not?

I found your comments helpful and not too many or too much.

9)      What about the course would you change?  Do you have any suggestions for change as I revise the course to teach it again?

I wasnt a big fan of the group projects, mainly because I lived off campus and it was difficult to find time for our group to meet out side of class.  Otherwise the class gets a shiny gold star.

10)    Do you feel like this class helped you to be better able to read and compose texts, both in college and in the real world? Explain your answer.

I have expanded my abilities in writing since the begining of class, so I feel it did help, both in college and the real world.

11)   Please offer some advice or helpful hints for students taking this course in the future.

Make sure you want to be a teacher before you sign up for the class, haha.

I often use writing samples from past students as models in my classroom.  Please check one of the boxes and type in your name and today’s date below:
